Invited talk on Oxygen gas sensing technologies: a comprehensive review

Abstract

Different oxygen gas sensing technologies, i.e., potentiometric, amperometric, paramagnetic and optical based on tunable diode laser spectroscopy (TDLS) will be reviewed in details. Special attention will be given to the theoretical aspects and operation basics of the technologies, application limits and analyzers or system requirements. A comprehensive technologies review will be supported with the latest developments trends especially on the potentiometric zirconia technology and tunable diode laser spectroscopy products. Will be given a critical analysis of two most dominant on the combustion and chemical industry markets oxygen gas analyzers based on zirconia potentiometric sensing technology and tunable diode laser spectroscopy (TDLS).

Biography

D Sc. Pavel Shuk is a Principal Technologist at Rosemount Analytical Inc., Emerson Process Management (USA). He developed many new solid state advanced sensors, i.e., CO2-, CO-, O2-, pH- and high temperature humidity sensor. He graduated with a first class honor BS degree in Physical Chemistry ('summa cum laude') from Belarus State University, Minsk and completed his Ph. D with 'magna cum laude' in high temperature electrochemistry at Greifswald University (Germany). He obtained a D.Sc. (Dr. rer. nat. habil.) from Greifswald University (Germany) and was a Humboldt Fellow in 1992-93 at University of Tübingen (Germany). In 1995 he moved to USA and was working as a Research Associate and Research Associate Professor at Rutgers University developing new advanced high temperature humidity sensor, solid state pH-sensor, new ionic and electronic nanomaterials, mechanochemical preparation technology for the biomaterials.
Since 1999 he is with Rosemount Analytical Inc. at Emerson (USA), world leader in analytical instrumentation working on the new advanced gas sensor products R & D and gas sensing technologies evaluation.
He has published over 120 peer reviewed publications, 18 patents and 5 books and books chapters.
